The Hornsey Wood Tavern was situated at 376 Seven Sisters Road. The original pub was demolished in 1866 and rebuilt a few years later across the road. This pub closed in 2007 and was demolished c2008. It was used as the Alexandra Bar at time of closure.
I remembered going to see a well known blues band called “Ten Years After” at a venue called “Bluesville ‘68”. I remembered that it was in quite a large pub, but could not remember where. After a bit of research I found that it was at none other than the Hornsey Wood Tavern. The blues scene was just getting going in the late 60s and this was quite a top venue, with subsequently well known bands such as Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull all playing there.

I saw quite a few bands at The Hornsey wood Tavern. Jethro Tull, Family, Ten Years After, Rory Gallagher Led Zeppelin. Apart from Led Zeppelin, there was always space to move around and often we`d stand right in front of the band. I must have seen these bands at least twice each. Great pub with amazing music. What a great pub landlord to have sorted that out so early on.
